This is my effort..not..to loose stuff I had written. This is my old blog...without dates... in order they happened. Probably my biggest one yet. Not gonna embed any pictures..just follow the links. Whooosh... ; ;.. i know its long.. but.. I dont wanna loose it.
(Random Experiences in Carrot Tossing)
Auronte & I were out skilling up and trying to level NPC's... Mine has gotten a bit lax lately... stuck I think. But we both gotten a bit board with Xarabara killing demons & bats--tho one pop did agro us...that was fun...anyway. I was doing the whole RDM/NIN thing doing daggers, when we decided to try Urg. Range. Most of the mobs were more than the two of us could kill, but the bunnies were DC, and gave them a try. They were fairly easy to kill, but I about fell out of my seat when one of them used a special "carrot" ability to heal themselves (I think others have this too, but I never seen it). The bunny dug into the snow, and a literal carrot appeared. It grabbed it, spun upside down while eating, and cured itself. Maybe I am silly (hehe..did I say maybe) but that was the funniest thing I've seen a mob do. I'm just waiting for an Antican to poke the tank in the eye with a "Nyuk Nyuk" sound next.
Cloggin Calamities Hmm... yesterday at long last Auronte & I managed to find an xp party, and a good one at that. We were in the Labarynth of Onzoozzoozozozozooza killin those hiena versions of kitty cats. Its been a while since I've xp'd down there...and I remember why. Hehe...well...it wasn't all that bad, and we had no deaths. And about half way into it we had entertainment: another Ose war. Someone kept spamming shouts about "Ose (I-9)" every five seconds, followed by "shut up" and "Obnouxious Red Mages," and finally "We stole the claim!!!" Seems to happen a lot. I remember one time when whoever had Ose couldn't kill it, then...somone else claimed it...and...couldn't kill it. Before I knew it, my puller announced "Incomming Ose!" I about plotz'd. But it was literally 100 or points until dead. Not before it did 600+ damage to our Paladin. Always entertaining, our Ose.
But then Goshi wanted to go Buffallo huntin'. I honestly dont think he should be allowed to say that until he gets a coonskin cap and gets a blunderbust. But thats just a question of asctetics. But Javir, Ala(ack...can't remember how to spell his name), Goshi, Auronte and myself went killin. Those buffallo's were entertaining, but I had to wake up early. So I warp back to Jueno when I hear that Goshi has pulled the Buffallo NM. Oodellalli. I port on back, and as predicted. I zone into Ulgagagagaath range again when they kill it, and what drops? Cure Clogs. I was almost afraid to ask, almost expecting them to dissapear if I lotted on it (things were blowing up in my face last night), but by agreement of the others, I got the Cure Clogs. I tried them out, and even the Curaga spells are that much faster. I might even be able to cure Trindel in time before he dies (tho.. I have special cure macros with "/wait 5" for him...shhhhh....our little secret). I'm ready to try them out in party now. I can just imagine how fast I'll be once I merit those wahuzits...casting time.
WORMIN-WADI The update gave me the personal excuse to clean around the apartment a bit (lets face it...I'm a slob); Visit the Beautyshop to throw things at the pretty people (DARN THEM!!!)...of course...I woulda gotten more done if I hadn't slept til Noon...well...water under the federally mandate holiday.
I went back to worming in Kor. Tunnel. Went about as expected except that I shoulda used a stronger bow. On my 2nd worm (linked with the first) I ran outta mp and was 15 HP by the time I killed it...and.... silenced. Its kinda strange to get killed by the worm that killed me (rasp eats 15 hp like crazy). I must write a haiku about it!
Anyway.. random taru came by and raised me (so...only chased him a little... I mean... he did cast raise on me) so I went back for some more materials. I really love worms. Even on VT or T's I can get upwards of 200 xp per and they're not that hard to kill. Just a matter of keeping up with the curing after every stonega. And if I have 2 people in a party, I can go indefinatly. But by the time I ran outta bolts, I still wasn't lv21 yet. So...I hooked up with Auronte & Ran to the Wadi.. dangruf wadi that is.... (no oil...go figure)
We decided (okay..I decided, and Auronte came writing out a last will & testament) to go by way of hte "T" section of Wadi Goblins. And we completly owned them, and snuck through to the side with the ruins of the hallway. And what did we see... A Guyzer Lizzard... "Can we kill it?" "I have no idea" "what should we do" "well... lets do something". POOF... it dissapears.. First time with this one. Ah wells. At some point I decided I was tired of these EP's and wanted another T, and went back to that big out-of-the-place hall way and pull a T gobbie. I got what I wanted... 3 gobbies. "Ruuuuun" "no...really....RUN!!" Unfortunatly, as always the case, we both miss the exit a couple times, and we get seperated. I did manage to find the exit and make it to the zone (I had...more..than one goblin following me) but Auronte went to where...the harder goblins lived and had to HP. I find I have to kill my friends at least once before I'm confortable with them. Just ask Goshi. Anyways...Not to be daugnted, we head to Pal. Mines. Why there...I cannot say. I think some bunnies were making fun of me, and I instinctivly knew it. I finally reach lv21. SO we head back to bastok (getting another chaosblade...sheesh) and head to Jeuno.
I decided I was a bit board with the scyth and used my CQ pts for a big honkin sword. Instantly I felt that old-time feelin you get with a new weapon. I must hit things and take their stuff. SO I choco to Pash Marsh to knock a few heads in...leeches were still T...whachya gonna do....but one or two and I'll outpost home. Unfortunatly...I forgot about the level limits on outposting. So for the next few ...I dodged gobbies...as,....best I could...until my hero Auronte came to pick me up. WE fly to Mea, and I run to windy to logout. Of course... along the way... I meet Spiny...who absoltuly refuses to give me anything in exchange for killing it. I mean, really. Stingy monsters.
A new day, and decided to go red mage again. I had sent all my drk stuff to mules (gosh, I hate doing that...takes forever...but I only have enough room to keep 2 job's equipment at once) and had time to kill so I decided to choco to Bastok to turn the zinc I gathered worming into brass ingots (I'm saving ingots for some crafting...if I can remember what for....). But instead of a normal choco, I get a choco race. I'm really starting to love these; I've gotten half dozen glyphs (that teleport you back to where you started) and at least 4 Experience Points Pages (I think you need to complete a certain number of quests within a certain time before you get the pages, but I'm not sure) so I run from Windy to Jeuno, which gave me a chance to grab food & ammo (marion glace were only 3k...yaaaaaay), and got a Windy Glyph (free teleport to windy is nothing to sneeze at...no level limit; Especially if you're leveling something low and are stuck somewhere scary).
Anyways... bastok being what it is, I was board and still had time to kill, so I decided to go back to Dangruf Wadi and chase that
NM that dissapeared from me before. There's just something about NM getting away that just annoys me... blaime Goshi. It only drops
Force Belt and
Steam Scale Mail but...its the principle of the matter. But there's also this NM I read about I wanted to see... apart of these low level NM that were added that drop low level equipment. Its called a
Chocoboleech that drops a lv15 katana, called
Gassan; nothing huge... nice katana, but mine is 37 already. But why not? I just had to kill a few sheep on the hill outside bastok to get "Fresh Blood" to spawn it (I got a few angry tells why a lv62 rdm was killing xp mobs...but I avoided anyone who was xping to where I couldn't see them at all, so unless they wanted to claim the whole mountain...they could kiss my fuzzy tail). Once I spawned the bugger, it was a complete pushover...it even casted magic so I ended the fight with more MP than I started. If anyone needs a lv15 Katana, I'd suggest getting this one...free...and fairly decient. However, mine went to a NPC for 500 gil. hehe.... As for the Tyranasaourus Ridiculous....um... the Gyzer Lizard... it knew I was there and refused to spawn...even when the steam came making me lag so bad I jumped all over the place in slow motion. So we just left. So much for Dangruf... hehe
Lizard Eggs & Philosophical PotsIts becomming harder to find decient NPC leveling spots anymore, the closer mine gets to my own level. Really wish I knew how much xp she's getting every time. Well.. Auronte & I decided to xp off of lizards in the nest. Always fun, considering they drops 100 eggs and tails but several skins. Those lizard skins are valuable...espcially to the lizard...and we usually have a stack a piece by the time we're done. But then an xp party moved in and the lizards became scarce. So we moved on to rumbler crawlers & waspes...both of which are pretty good xp for solo mobs. Not to mention exciting when you think you pulled a 3-way link, but we did well. I went back the next day and ended up with 2 1/2 stacks of skins (tails are useful for potions, but hard to use up activly, and eggs...not good for much).
Well..next day..I ended up in sky again to farmup water. Don't know how many have done this before, but that water is sucha pain to get. But its non-stop killing of magic pots. This is about the time when most people end up getting silly. Especially when there's another LS counter camping you, and running past every few minutes. Eventually, even the white mages get into the game of grabbing the pots before someone else did (I got 7 myself). At one point we had four at once, and two got off a thunderaga that.. killed most of our taru. But the most fundamental question that I had was ... after curing Goshi a lot ... if taru-tossing was so wrong, why do they make taru-hats so aerodynamic? Well...it was 10 pm before we got the 2 waters we needed, and we were off. I think next time I'm gonna sub ninja so I can cap off club.
Makin Hay With Banna PeelsI keep finding myself thinkin "I gotta do something interesting so I can write it down" yet I did an awful lotta "hurry up and wait" stuff. But there's something that Jim Henson said about telling stories...if you can't bring a story to a finish you either eat something, blow something up, or just throw penguins in the air. So maybe I'll make it sound interesting anyway.
I found my way back to Movopolis again with Auronte...thats an interesting place, but the treasure chests are never to be found...unless it's on this obliet that can only be reached from Newton. But there's lotsa buttons to push and leavers to pull (and give me one of those, I'll push/pull it long before the 'Danger, end of the world Button' registers in my head).
Unfortunatly, after running Auronte's NPC there for "beastmen" armor, the only interesting thing was an Elemental that cheated terribly and jumped off an impossible streatch to come eat me. (Seriously...what motivates an elemental...love? taxes? Foxyboxing? Or they just supernaturally grumpy?) Of course...the mighta been due to the Bio II I cast on it, but there's no way to be sure.
A short time later (actually..I can't remember when it was...there was a fuzzymice..incident..and--well..never mind) Auronte & I ended up in the Nest kiling mushrooms (that SOOO had a different meaning when I was growing up) with my NPC--she's very close to getting Holy Platemail--but it seems that I always get Exoray Mold when I don't need it. But whiile we were camping the Exorays in the center camp, someone came along and said they needed to be helped out. Honestly...I couldnt understand what they meant. It was..just around the corner. So we ended up killing mobs along the way until we reached the exit (thankfully, we reached max kills along the way...no level tho). You know the nest is crouded when you can't even find a single Scorpion.
We decided we were going to skillup in Ozozo when I was captured by a cutscene from Luto (two of them, actually...I clicked on the NPC for the new PvP game they had out...that came up with my favorite quote of them all... Next to "Well Twist My Whiskers" from Luto.. a Tarutaru saying "how can it be this exciting when it came from a Hume from Bastok?") so we ran to Qufum to do the second NPC genkai test. Its just a simple Giga NM that your NPC wants to kill Solo. Once again, its a really simple fight...most of them are, except for that BCNM... go figure.
We did finally make it to Ozozo and began to attempt to depopulate it. What was really annoying was the periodic lag spikes and all the..other people...skilling up...killing everything. Of course...nobody ever accused Ozozo of not having enough monsters. We kept trying to find a perfect spot to camp, but kept running into elementals. But those mobs did level up my daggers skills something fierce. (lol..I keep thinking...something might have been interesting...but...most exciting thing that happened was finding a treasure chest. Things keep going down really fast since Auronte got dancing edge)
Well...sunday was kinda dull. I got a lotta house work done, and managed to flood my kitchen sink. But once online, I ran to the northlands and leveled up my NPC, whos starting to look kinda funny in the sage body armor & errant hat (still no level). But soloing being as boaring as it is.. I decided to find a party as a drk. I missed the "xp rush hour' so it took a while, so I entertained myself with ep mobs in the Maze. The xp was rather good.. 30-72 each. And I walked in on a whole bunch a dead bodies...kinda strange to see that many dead and have no raise. But once in an XP party, I found that...I couldn't hit a darn thing with my 2-handed sword. You'd think they'd make it easier to hit when you havta wait 20 min between swings. But I got 2 levels and was happy. I logged out in Bastok...I think I'll kill a few worms to get to 24.
I think the most interesting thing on sunday was when I took a walk. I ended up at the grocery store where I stalked a pre-made ceasar salad. I chased it around a bit, letting it think it could get away. Then I pounced, killed it, took it home and ate it.
(There... Jim Hensen would be proud)
WADI'S REVENGEMonday was a bit of a slow day since I had to goto school until late late. I logged into level dark knight again anyway...I figured I'd kill a few EP's and worms to make it a bit farther along. Of course, I needed to make some crossbow bolts without having a good source of ash lumber...just took a bit longer. But I did manage to get plenty of xp off of goblins in Wadi again...just very fun to kill easy goblins and get 36-46 xp. But while there, I got an invite, so I did the omg-I-got-an-invite-better-hurry-before-they-change-their-mind dash back to town and warp to Qufim Island.
I honestly do not remember when I learned about silent oil..my first pass through Qufim Island was "I'll stand here until someone kills those darn weapons" and sometimes...not even that. I remember once when I was invited to a party, caught agro from a spawned undead (I think they changed that...you dont get agro onw when things just spawn. I remember mobs spawning casting spells at me...) and died. That was when the party not only didn't try to raise me...they decided to kick me instead. In any event... silent oil makes things much more fun dodging mobs. Qufim parties are also interesting. You do and get away with things you'd never do otherwise. Its an amazing thing if you actually get an organzied party to do a skillchain and heaven forbid a magic burst. But this group was made up of all melee-ing maniacs. But, I did manage to get in a few MB's for 1 point (principle of the thing). 2 levels in one night. I did get chewed out for telling people we could take a giga--we did, and were hurt by it, but what was funny was the fact that we went onto goblins who left us even hurt worse than the giga. Good xp overal tho.
Last night was even more interesting. Overal, I like goofing off with freinds, and xping here and there. Soloing has its attraction, but in the end, you might level, but it takes forever to get a decient buffer. I managed to be literally 0 xp into level 25 by the time I was done. And a magic skull. I wish you could use that for something... I mean...there's even a use for meteorites & dhamel spit. Ah wells.
My first stop was Wadi again. Can't really say why, but I do love to see where the progress of the mobs are at what level. And once I hit 25, its becomes bloody bolt time! Bloody bolts makes things much easier. And theres always a chance to get a few toys there... those worms drop an int ring worth 10k-20k (I ended up with a 6k shield outta treasure chest). Whats interesting is that the Tough Mobs at 21 were now DC, worth a good 72 xp. Good xp, but the EP goblins were still worth a lot, and even bunnies were good. But to be good faith to my time in Wadi, I linked two gobbies...so I ran. I honestly thought I'd havta HP, but I ran the maze of wadi, and got to the exit alive. (Sometimes I wish there was a "rear view" option but last time I did that was in Bibiki Bay and had 15 dhamels on my tail. I pased just long enough to be instaltly hit by all of them at once for 100 or so each. Since then...lol) But I ended the time in Valkry Dunes and finally made lv25.
Huh...not to interesting this time. Maybe I shoulda thrown some penguins? Anyone got any?
Moral QuandriesWell... a lot has been done past time. Unfortunatly, I wish I had accomplished much, but what can ya do. I have leveled a few jobs, farmed a few items, but over all...I've been terribly dissapointed in the whole general mish mash.
One event was when I joined a new group of people to go after
Roster Pumps. You use an antlion trap to summon an antlion that uses a TP ability to summon other Antlions. Unfortunatly, only one of these antlions actually drops the pumps. And of course, the spawn point is sitting right on a spawn point for normal antlions...Decient Challenge Antlions to lv75's...and link to every single spawn. So...on average...we had about 3 or 4 antilions at a time. Then, the NM antlion with the pumps (I'd love to see where this thing was wearing them at the time) loves to spam abilitys like "Petrify-aga", "Blind-aga" and a really wonderful ability "Stonega IV". What was wonderful was how all white mages were told to stick together, as well as stay by the Black Mages who were getting lotsa hate. This made it a perfect situation to ensure that everyone with the ability to cast "Stona" were all Petrified at the same time. What was wonderful was the fact that all the tanks died very quickly. I even took a video of this fact... I selected on tank to find him at full hit points....two seconds later... he was at zero. I think I survivde because there was one bard in my party who was increadible at keeping me refreshed, and I had subbed smn... All I can say...these things are very nice boots...but not that nice for the trouble it takes. If nothing else...we'd need a whole second alliance to kill links.
Of course...next event was claiming King Behemoth. This is a huge "Purple People Eater" that spams various thunder spells, huge cones of "knock back" effects, and my all time favorite, "Meteor-aga". A point of fact, this NM is the closest I've seen to fighting Kirin. Heaven knows it killed enough people. We had it down to 1/3 HP when Outterheavens came along and stole it. I have no idea how that worked--I was busy keeping the kiting Paladin alive (I'm quite proud of the fact he never came close to death)--but some members of Outerheaven had a huge beef against some members of my allaince....and decided to steal it. Of course, the end result was that Outerheavens all died, and the Japanese group got it, killed it, and got all the drops. Gotta love things like this. Where does community and common courtesy end and cut throat drag out competition begin? Was my efforts running around for an hour worth anything? Or all the tanks & damage dealers who took the mob down that far? Or is it apart of the game to...well...no matter what you do, there is always a chance to loose all your efforts? I've been thinking about this a lot. I decided to farm a bit of blood while I was warrior, when I saw that myself and someone else were going after the same leech. I was there first and got the other two, and we both arrived at the leech at the same time. This always ended up with me loosing the claim just about every time I farmed there, but I had provoke (for a change) & used it. The person I outclaimed seemed upset...and I felt bad about it. Its all really a big quandry for myself...mainly because it all makes me not want to engage in any farming, which is obviously not possible. HNM are really important to be able to afford high level equipment. So where can I stand and feel good about things...I have no idea. I guess I'll havta play it by ear.
I suppose things got a bit better. On a lark, I decided to make some silent oil (I find it funny...I make more gil from one session of silent oil than splitting 2 behemoth hides) and skilling up on Icarus Wings. In the end...I FINALLY made it to lv88 Alchemy. I am now a veteran. I am not entire certain, but HQ's are happening even more often. I'll havta make more Silent Oil to be completly sure.
I decided to take Dark Knight out for a drive... I think Dark Knight is setup the best for worming than any other job. I managed to get a great deal of xp off worms, and only needed to get one or two xp parties. I even took Warrior out for a spin again. I farmed a lot of Gousebit Grass from flys and managed to delevel in Zitah (thanks again Jen for rescuing me). I then managed to help a new player out with a windy quest... (whenever I feel depressed or dispondant, I try to find someone sincere and make their day a bit better. Tends to make my day better afterward...most of the time. One time I helped some random person with G3, but the guy turned out to be insanly rude and we literally had to kick the guy because he refuse to answer any questions) that took forever... And finally got to play warrior again.
I must say that the warrior job is so neat to do. I was in a party, and I was doing so much damage the paladin had a hard time keeping hate. Not a normal worry for a white mage. I kept having to turn away from the mob so the stupid creature would sit still. And running around cracking heads of goblins was also really fun too. Ever notice that goblins go "crunch" but skeletons go "sploch"? And tigers tend to sound like a tanberine. Kinda funny...wonder if I could change those sounds... use old bat man sounds (hehe...any of you guys remember the adam west show?)
Guess its a question of finding new things to have fun with. I think the bight spot of my week has been the people and friends I met who I've chosen to surround myself with. Of course..there was the fact that I very nearly got a gold ingot out of Baldi for making a flame degen. I thank you all my friends.
Never Play Tag With A Room Full of Darters(aka /autotarget off)
Yesterday started out much better than most. I had gotten Dark Knight to 30 even though my last party left me with 900 tnl (gotta love those worms). I had lotsa fun intimidating the local weapons, and I can't get enough of that ("Elvaan Killer" WILL BE MINE!!!). But when I logged in last night, I was just barly transfering the last of my DRK gear out when I got an invite. Auronte & I ran to the tree and started XPing on those...tomato bugs... Processionaire. Not sure how many know this particular camp...its ontop of water, so there's virtual no chance of linking the crawlers, but ...its ontop of a water elemental spawn, and is populated with more Darters and Leeches than players. Add a bard, and ...yuk...lag time. But before long, we were getting huge xp, even though it was a bit sloppy. (here's a tip...if you wanna really upset a thief as a tank, stand back just far enough so you can barely hit the mob... that way...no matter how hard the thief tries...they can't hit the mob. lol...at least the tank didn't blaim Auronte for not being able to SATA him.) Shortly after my xp ring wore off the whm was needing to go, but was willing to wait around until we got a replacement...until...the war in our party decided he didn't like the Darters, and attacked one. He tried to run & die so we would survive, but...they immediatly started attacking us too. I managed to get chainspell off, but died before I could Escape (figures..don't it). lol... and everyone in the party was floating downstream. Dontchya hate that feeling... the guy was really quiet, and heaven knows it was unintentional. (I've been killed by malicious people, stupid people, and people with their heads in the clouds...I think someone who made a mistake is easiest) But to no ones suprise, the whm decided it was time to leave....and was replaced with a Samurai. Dont ask me. The situation didn't last much longer than that, especially since I was expected to main heal AND refresh AND debuff...and didn't even have whm subbed. And it took the tank dieing 3 more times before he decided the party makeup was all wrong.
Well... we got a goodly amount of xp, so we decided to head to Movopolis to work on the materials I needed to get my shrimp lantern. lol...we got one on the first goblin. Gotta love Movopolis...its like the "lost boys" club for goblins. And there's troops of them that walk around together casting "barsleepra", "shellra" and my favorite "hasteaga" on everyone.
One of the ingredients is from worms in Ulg Range...which are DC to us, but we killed them readily. Unfortunatly, they also pop where DC bats spawn...which refuse to sleep no matter how hard we try... and nearly got eaten by one. Figures. Well...productive afternoon if I say so myself.
*Inser Unhappy face here*I didn't do that much this last Friday/Saturday. I did make a big mistake and lost all my gil, but I think I'm nearly over that. I figure...200 or so clusters...and I'll be right back where I was. So Auronte & I invaded the demon castle. No better way to find a collection of beastmen...whatever you're in the mood for at any time. Gotta love that. We ended up with a bunch of xp and several valuable ninja scrolls...well...one valuable one, and three "oh gee, thats nice" ones. We did find a phalanx ring in a treasure chest too, but whats funny is how often treasure keys drop.
Yesterday I was invited to kill more gods...the wyvern & the tiger. Quite interesting buggers. The wyvern does 100 fists, and when that happens, everyone scatters. The tiger is always interesting cause you havta run around inside to get to it. Sky is made up of 99% mobs that agro magic, and inside has a bunch of living weapons that agro sound. So anyone who knows anything...carries a bunch of silent oil. There were...two people who didn't. So we had a train of "Aura Weapons" and "Detectors" following us down. And very soon, everyone of those detectors summoned a doll of one sort or another, and they were chasing us. I wasn't so worried since...I was still sneaked, but it is quite a rush to do the 100 meter dash with bunches of monsters running at ya.
Well...after that, I decided to go back to the Maze for a bit, and see if I could use my key. I was there earlier getting clusters and got one, but couldnt find the chest. And while I was at it...I accidently spawned a slime NM....twice. But it did give me the wonderful title "JELLYBANE!" "NO PEANUT BUTTER CAN STAND IN MY WAY!!!" Tho...I dragged the 2nd one around a bit to find out if anyone wanted the drop (rare/ex...already had one) and lost it. I scared some one who was there for RSE I think...nobody ever sees quests NM.
After that, I met up with Booboo to do the G3 run in Davoi...that one is the easiest of them all, and were done fast. So left to my own devices, I thought I would level dark knight a bit more, when I met up with Auronte, and when went hunting Revival Root. Of course, Auronte made the most amazing observation about Remedies. I just had to share it for the record.
MEYAOU!!! Thou Shalt Not Pass!!! MEYAOU!!!Saturday left me with a bit of insomnia and not much to do, so I decided to try out Paladin a bit. I usually do this sorta thing in Sandy so I can gather up a few fire crystals & conquest points while I'm at it. And its amazingly fun to kill easy prey mobs in a few hits... nuff to give a girl airs, I'm sure, but if i can't intimidate an Orc, I'd just assume kill it in two swings. But I ran from lv9 to lv15 in very little time, when you get 15-40 xp per mob. I've always loved the idea of being a paladin. I can imagine guarding a door... keeping the linking tarutaru out... MEYAOU!!! THOU SHALT NOT PASS!!! MEYAOU!!!
What was really funny was the number of party invites I kept getting for the Dunes. In all honesty, I had sworn off the dunes as a matter of principle. Under lv15, there is very little reason to go there unless you knew you had good players, since soloing gives xp so fast. But one was an old "friend" of mine...someone I knew who always takes a very odd take on xp'ing, kept asking me to be her tank (if she built a cabnet like she xp'd, she'd be hammering nails with a sledge hammer instead of a ballpean hammer...my dad's my childhood hero and a carpenter... tool analogies come naturally). I decided to join her against my better judgement anyway, and ran to the dunes to xp (insert doom music here).
The party turned about what I expected. I spent 10k on some minor gear (I normally dont spend too much, since the low levels dont last too long) and I died three times (my friend, the white mage, kept curing the black mage who had full health instead of me...the... tank....). As soon as the party disbanded, I ran away as fast as I could. lol... commited then (*cough* forgive the pun) I decided to get paladin to 15, the magic number I love to use. You can use Chocobo, use my generic nomad armor, and so forth. So I dived in and did my best to depopulate the orcs. By the time I hit 15, I had nearly 10 stacks of firecrystals.
Can't hit broad side of a wormAuronte & I have been hammerin & hammerin at the XP wall, and finally made 65. Its kinda funny, but I've been filling Auronte with stories of how many gold coins the Thieves seem to steal, and all the ones we killed had ... left their coins at home... or something. Anyway, we also discovered how wonderfully bad the xp gets when the party has 2 smn and no whm or blm....especailly when neither wants to throw out cures. But I think the funniest thing...and embarassing for me...was when Auronte told me "I keep hitting for zero" and I had to admit.. "thats cause I keep forgetting to dispell".... -_-... I had to refresh 4 people in that party... ; ;... gets hard to do anything else.
Anyway, we have joined a CoP group, so we're going to need some lv40 jobs we want to use for the level capped missions. I have WAR and BLM but I wanted to try out a few others, like PLD, DRK or even NIN. But I need to level up a bit more. Auronte wants to level up warrior as well, and my paladin was living at lv10 for so long, I had a bit to work on. So I took out paladin once again. My first stop was back in the Ghelshiba outpost again, where I got the unique chance to xp off of the Title Wrecker, Warchief (I didn't mind..I got a couple conquest items, and "Wise Wizard" is a bit annoying). But what was really funny was when I pulled one mob and suddenly four friends showed up out of no where. Thankfully, Auronte was there to save my fuzzy tail from Orcish Torture.
Well..next day was more interesting, cause I started out with the idea, I Will Kill Worms. This isn't different than any other time I've done this, but for some reason, paladin (with everything capped) can't hit the broad side of a worm to save her life. My first attempt in Kor. Tunnel yeilded 10 missses and one hit for 1pt damage. I ran away. So I went to the Maze. In the Maze... it took me 20 min to kill one worm. I have no idea why, outside the fact that... Acid Bolts realllly do a good job of lowering the defenses of the worm. And me as pld...had no other way to do it. So I did the unthinkable... I PARTIED IN THE DUNES!!! (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH)
The dunes party wasn't so bad. I had to outpost to get there, but I had a party ready and waiting. Of course...we had a power leveler...tho I still managed to keep hate. And our party kept going strong after he left. What was unique was the fact that I managed to agro a "Will-o-the-wisp" that spawned in our camp... even managed to stop it from self destructing ... the first time... before it did it again, bringing everyone under 10 hp. But in the end, I got 2 levels.
I must say..I've got poison arrows in mind, and I'm hoping to figure out if a paladin can kill worms or not. Hehe...we'll see.
Paladin's DiaryWell...since last night I was veeery close to leveling, I decided to go a huntin again. Not to mention, I had my xp ring running from the last night, and I so wanted not to waste that. SO I ran to the outpost again to kill a few Orcs (I made it too ^^). I wondered around the outpost, and discovered I dont agro many orcs anymore, and got a bit sure of myself. So I check a mob in a hut, and it checked as Easy Prey...however...I forgot to read the name. Because my easy prey must have walked somewhere else...and what I pulled was....

omg....omg... panic time. My fur standing end on end...and...it still is....I 2 houred and tried to run away. Let me tell you...the paladin 2 hour does not last long enough. So I sat down on a bridge and decided to fight. It was truely epic fight. But guess what....

^^ I AM KITTY!!! HEAR ME MEYAOU!!!!
So I reach to nearly level 20 when it was time for Escort Quest. Escort goes just perfectly, and I get my XP Page...and it requires level 20 to use. /cry.. so I..with a little help with Auronte... get my last 500 xp, and use my xp page.
Level 20 paladin^^
Never trust a paladin with a bowMy profound discovery... Vitamins are Bad For You
Tuesday is the day for my last class at UoP before my BSIT degree... not...last last class...just week 2 of the last class. Anyway, I was getting ready for it when I became horribly aware of a distinct desire my stomache had to leap out of my mouth. I was horribly sick for a while until I finally expelled the offending object... vitamin pills. Only thing I can think of is that I had take a dose...then...forgot I had taken that dose...and taken it again. (I hate pills). Suffices to say, my tummy is sending me hate mail, and I feel particularly bruised today. And I talked myself out of going to class. Well...hopefully...wont be too much missed.
I had paladin nearly to level 21, and I had poison arrows. Nothing too big, but I had a lotta trouble with worms, and I wanted damage on my side. So I went worming. The trick to worming is to only fight one at a time, and keep ahead of the Stonaga. Sounds simple enough, and if you have refresh, you can just cure once and you're there. 100-200xp is yours. But I finally discovered the reason for the troubles with worming as a paladin... Paladins do NOT get a ranged attack skill! I never thought to look before, but there it was. My Ranged Attack skill was comming from my sub, which was obviously half what it was for all my other jobs I used to kill worms. This is a dissapointment and a half... there are tons of xp to be had in those worms! But I could barly hit them, no matter what food I used, and when I decided to take on two worms at once, I found myself eating dirt the worms left for me (thanks Booboo for the assist). Now worming can still work for paladin...but only as a curing assistant. But still...it can work.
Anyways, I went back to Ghelshiba and killed mobs until I got my level. Whats funny is that I had worked my way into the edges and was surrounded once I leveled. So, wanting to get out, I used my 2 hour and ran for it. Paladins get all the fun when it comes to making a G'Train of mobs. Level 21 is mine^^.
Goldfishies & Cactaur NeedlesI had two goals for yesterday.. first and foremost... GOLDFISHIES!!!!! I found the recepie for a goldfish bowl, and I was bound and determined to get everything I needed. SO, the night before I logged out in Tav. Safehold to kill Pugil for
"Bags Of Silica"(something many people have discovered, Alla's database lists every mob EVERYWHERE they appear, even though the drops those mobs have are limited to specific locations. Silica only drops in Tav. Safehold.)
ANYWAY... I logged out in the safehold, and went immediatly to work trying to get the drop. Unfortunatly, none of the crabs listed on Alla were dropping. So I finally found the Makara in Mis. Coast, and finally started getting the drops I needed. What was annoying was that someone was xping off the same mobs. Don't get me wrong, unclaimed mobs are anyone's business, but I just hate to take people's xp mobs for any reason. So I told him what I was after, and he actually gave me one bag.
Of course..in between various fishies, I took on one or two birdies... Love them Birdies. Aspir + Energy Drain = Unlimited Run Mob.
But eventually I got my 6th, and warped back to Jueno. But to make glass sheets, you need salt...and I really didn't want to run to sandy just for salt. So I ran to Qufim Island to outpost to windy...and got one chunck of salt off of the first crab... now how often does that happen? So I hit windy and make my glass sheet.
Now
Goldfish Bowl requires some odd stuff, including
Seiglinde Putty. I think this item was only created to give things like flax flowers a reason to exist. But I made all the preliminaries and outposted to Sandy to get synth support for the final result. As it always goes, I was in a hurry to do this on Firesday and everything seemed to not work...but I got the 8th ingredient...and now...

Cactaur are entertaining...Sunday just seemed strange due to the fact that I had no idea how much time I had to play. Nearly broke again, I thought I would go out and farm/xp (my favorite) as Paladin when I got an invite to a Kazham party as a lv24...something I was quite suprized about. I know there's nothing...sacred... about waiting until 25 to level there, but I want to get PLD to 40 so have the option of using it in CoP/BCNM. So I choco'd up there and gave it a try. It was quite interesting. We took the one camp behind a wood wall that has the occasional gobbie pop, but the gobbie never was a problem. Since pld has uber defense, I just zoned every one. The one time it popped during a fight, I just 2 hour'd and zoned the gobbie. Over all, it was very productive.. I very nearly made it to 26 by the time I was done. But as with most parties there, someone had to go, and everyone disbanded.
So I took a nap. Just goes to show you...; ;...I'm getting old.
Once I got back, I decided to go farm again...but someone wanted to do a BCNM, and needed a RDM. "Dismemberment Squad" or something like that. 6 Orc NM's. BCNM60. The RDM they had was leaving and needed me to finish the run, and I had a lv60 Orb I had gotten years ago when I was trying to get Jueno Fame (no..dont think it did, but... you know.. half what we do is supersition anyway). The fight went really well...these people knew what they were doing, and they never did it before. My drops totaled... 29,000 gil. Ah well... The next fight? 3 million... /cry..... Flashbacks to 8 Desert Swarms & no V. Claw run by. Ah well. lol... they liked how good I did, and I think they will invite me back again, so I think I'll have a chance.
My next stop was... Sandy. I needed dark crystals, and decided to go hunt Elementals. Along the way, I ran into the same group I just did the BCNM with in the Northlands. Aparently, some whm needed the AF3 done, and considering how hard it was to do it for myself...I decided to help. I think its fun to see the bugger go down. Its a pain in the tail NM.. its fun to watch the thing go down fast for a change....and sheesh....those people were taking names and chewi---... okay..no evil dead jokes.
Well...what to do next. I was just anxious to do something, and since Auronte was on, we decided to go level NPC's. We ended up in Lab. of Ozozo and went to work. The funniest thing was when the Moldy Eearing mob popped, I could have claimed it. Problem being... I wasn't quite ready, and there was a whole group of people waiting there to try and claim it. I even woke the guy who claimed it after he was slept (I'm hoping to find better sportsmanship at these sites...even if its just me... maybe someday it will grow). But the annoying part was when both Auronte & I wasted a tactics charge after getting DC'd. Server hiccup maybe. But the bright side became... Auronte's NPC reached 50. So we went and did the G1...I think lotsa people heard about it since we kept forgetting things. And Baldi started petting Auronte. But by 2 am... we were done ^^.. Lets hear it for 2 hours sleep!
Subjob ManiaGetting the new expansion dvd was one major pain here. None of the stores were carying it and the ones that were, only planned to carry enough for pre-orders. Silly me believed everyone would have enough copies for people to buy one... but I called around until I found one at CompUSA, about a 30 min drive. So I drove out there during my lunch hour only to find... the person on the phone lied to me. Not only did they not have it, they never planned on carying it. Wasted lunch hour. So I head back to work late (took them forever to admit what they did too) and called again. I found one at an EB Games in tinbucktwo...40 min drive...but...heck; I was tired of hunting. So, I finally have access to the new areas.
After the monstrous update, Auronte & I started out hunting items for both Blue Mage and the boarding pass. Never before had I seen the dunes so empty of undead and crabs. It was amazing. I bet nobody ever felt safe than with all those high levels running about. Heck, I wouldn't be suprised if someone killed VE without even knowing it, and cursing the lack of a worm drop. But we stay there long enough to get two bloody robes, two aprons and two worms and the Valkrun Sun Sand. Our next stop was Gusgen mines for a magic skull... but there were sooo many people there that we could only get one Ghoul with no drop. So we decided to head out to the Maze. Not sure if people just don't know where the Ghoul pops are or what...but we had the run of the place and had two skulls in no time. The bunny tail and dhamel spit were eaaasy peasy, and we turned in our items.
Next thing we did was to get the last two items for Blue Mage and we were off for the boat. The boat ride was one long pain, and there were so many people onboard that any mob that popped was dead in 2 seconds. One guy fished up this NM that looked like a cross between the Simpson's 3-eyed fish and the one in Finding Nemo that had that glowing whisker thingie...and was puke grey. The guy who fished it was so shocked he called for help, and everyone went to kill it. It spamed Silence-aga and Disease-aga (or is that "cootie-aga"..dunno)...wonder what it drops. And we were in the new area. It was nearly midnight, but I wanted to see one of the new mobs, and just outside there were swarms of these .. pink...plant...tu-can-sams. Decient Challenges. But Auronte & I killed it in no time flat... 45xp each. That.. is too neat for words. And they didn't link (not sure if that was luck or not, but one other flew right through one we were killing). Tons of people were xping on them.
